![]() ![]() I am not saying as a fan-boy of Quicken, I am just realizing that it does appear that the subscription model has saved the product and the company by giving them a cash flow and need to keep the product current and viable making it a win for those old ducks like me that has created a life-time model for money management based around Quicken. I wish I could say that for some other things I pay for. Since I use it to manage and track all of my day to day spending, it provides invaluable service to me and I would probably pay even more than the normal subscription price. ![]() ![]() I think the rejuvenation of Quicken by the spin-off and return of old leadership has been very very good for the product. I nearly dropped the product after a 20+ year run (I started in the windows 3.1 days) because it was in such horrible shape around 2015-16. The pricing is getting quite steep, IMO.I will say that the recent versions of Quicken (I am currently on 2020 version 23.17) and for about the last 12 months has been the most stable and functional (especially for online transaction support) I have seen in years. In two years, when my subscription expires, I will have to look long and hard at alternatives then. Your current Quicken data is compatible with Quicken 2017. You can also purchase or use Quicken 2017 and enter all transactions manually without the constant reminder to upgrade and taking up 25% with a nag screen as a reminder. Or you can create a new Quicken ID and password and user that, if you want. So.you can wait 30 days past the termination of your subscription and then purchase from Quicken because they consider you to be a new user after 30 days. Quicken offers from their website that have varying discounts ONLY apply to new users. Now, they have no reason to incentivize renewing, because they know you will have to. They've always manipulated the price of the subscription. They could remove all the offers and incentives and really charge whatever they want to charge. This is exactly what I knew would happen once Quicken got everyone on a subscription. ![]()
